Bryan has always wanted to be a Mech Warrior.
Since as long as he could remember he has been around them.
His mother Alyson was a Mech Warrior in the 1st Procyon
Highland Guard, his father a Master Tech.
They both were a part of the unit before PHG came to Procyon.
When they arrived on planet Bryan was not even born.
His mother was still carrying and fighting when they first called
Procyon home.
Bryan was the mischievous type. He always wanted to know what was going on. Many times, he would be caught playing in his mother’s mech. His dad would try to get him interested in the building or fixing of mechs, but Bryan’s heart was never in it. He wanted to be out there fighting side by side with his mother. Of course, his big dream was to fight side by side with Col. Mackenzie or Maj. McKennon. They were real heroes on Procyon. He has seen his parents come back from battle, beaten, bruised and broken, but they always came back. His mother’s Mech really took some pounding at times. They won fights and lost fights. Someday he would join them in battle. He practiced on simulators, but knew it just was not the same. Eventually he knew that to become a great MechWarrior, he would have to go to the University for the best training. Finally the day had come. Bryan went off to the University for training. He thought he would be at the top of his class. Although not at the top, he was at the bottom either. Many Highland Guard members said that his true abilities would be forged on the battlefield. They day was approaching where he would finally fight side by side with his mother while his father looked after his Mech…. However, it was not meant to be. The year was 3051, September 24 to be exact…Bryan’s parents were on a special ops mission to try to capture a Clan Dropship. They lost 50% of their mechs that day. Bryan can still remember the day he received the letter from the Unit CO. Dear
Mr. McAfee, We
regret to inform you that you mother Alyson McAfee and your father Robert
McAfee were killed in the line of duty while on a mission for PHG.
Their
sacrifice has made it possible for members of the Inner Sphere to continue to
grow and prosper without the domination of the Clans. Your
mother spoke very highly of you and of your desire to be a part of the PHG.
I know that you will be graduating soon.
When you do, please let me know. I
would be honored to fight along side the son of two fine warriors. Truly, Duke
Ian MacKenzie That was 7 years ago. Today, Bryan is a member of the PHG and operates his own mech. He hopes his parents are proud of him. He fights in honor of them. Who knows what the future lies in store for him? Maybe he will work his way up to a CO position or maybe he will fall in battle like his parents. What he does know is that he will fight until his body has no more life left in it. Having just received a promotion to command and rebuild the Gamma Regiments’, 3rd BN, 1st Company, the story continues... |
